Hot Tapping
Hot Tapping is a proven method of creating a new connection to an existing pipeline, vessel, or reservoir while it remains live and operating under normal conditions. This process eliminates the need for costly shutdowns, keeping systems running smoothly while modifications are safely carried out.
The procedure involves fitting a specialised valve and drilling machine onto the pressurised system. Once the fitting is securely installed and tested to withstand system pressure, the drilling machine cuts into the pipeline, removing a “coupon” (the cut section) which is safely retained by the pilot. The cutter is then withdrawn, the valve is closed, and the drilling machine is removed — leaving a safe, sealed, and fully functional new branch connection.
This safe, controlled, and cost-effective technique is widely used across industries where downtime is not an option, including oil & gas, petrochemical, utilities, and water management. With our expertise in pipeline intervention and isolation, we ensure every hot tapping project is delivered to the highest standards of safety, precision, and reliability.
